STARTS PREPARATION OF E-BOOK “INTRODUCTION TO COMICS”
From August, 2015, SP „Studio Mitkus“ in cooperation with Siauliai City Municipality Public Library starts to prepare e-book „Introduction to Comics“where you will find the secrets of comic book creation and everything you need to know about comics from A to Z!

FUNDING GRANTED FOR LITHUANIAN HISTORICAL COMIC BOOK SERIES “LEICIAI”
On July 2nd, 2015 Lithuanian Council for Culture decided partially fund MB “Studio Mitkus" project – artwork and publishing of Lithuanian historical comic book series “LEICIAI. We anxiously look forward to get down to work!

COMIC BOOK PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION AT "VILNIUS BOOK FAIR 2015”
On February 22nd, 2015 at 11 A.M. we invite you to "Vilnius Book Fair 2015” (5.1. conference hall) where presentation of comic book “Hour of the Wolf: Silver. Adventures in Arizona” will take place. Later on discussion on comic book culture in Lithuania with participants:

EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE AT "BLON" FESTIVAL
An exclusive premiere of short animation “Cities of Steam and Stone” (invited guests only) will take place at the first Baltic Sea and the Nordic Region animation and video games festival "Beautiful Land of Nevermind (“BLON”). We invite you to a meeting session with director, producer, screenwriter and animators just minutes after the premiere. The premiere will be held on February 20th, 2015 at 9 P.M. (Address "Culture Factory" Bangų st. 5A, Klaipeda, Lithuania).

TV SERIES „THE ASSETS” ON ABC CHANNEL
American television channel „ABC” begins airing unaired episodes of 8 series spy drama „The Assets” on Saturdays 9 p.m., starting June 21, 2014. Graphic designs created by MB „Studio Mitkus” are seen on each episode on this mini TV series.

SP "STUDIO MITKUS" AT TECH CONFERENCE LOGIN 2014
SP “Stutio Mitkus” art director Tomas Mitkus will speak about comics and animation at the 8th LOGIN conference on April 10th-11th, 2014! LOGIN is the biggest tech community gathering in the Baltic states, attracting more than 80 speakers and 3500 visitors from all over the world.

LITHUANIAN FILM CENTER SUPPORT
The Lithuanian Film Center has supported SP “Studio Mitkus” short animation “Cities of Steam and Stone“ by the biggest grant in short animation category. The animation is based on A. Tapinas novel “Hour of the Wolf”. We are extremely happy to move the project to preproduction stage.

PARTICIPATION IN “CARTOON FORUM” TOULOUSE, FRANCE
September 17th - 20th studio’s art director Tomas Mitkus participated in “Cartoon Forum” held in Toulouse, France. 850 participants from animation industry, 68 effective pitches, hours of talks about animation, tons of new contacts with potential international partners and loads of ideas for new projects!

COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH LITHUANIAN ARMED FORCES
SP “Studio Mitkus” signed a cooperation agreement with Lithuanian Armed Forces to collaborate in creating historic comic book. Our mission is to visualize effectively the principal events in Lithuania’s history according to Lithuanian Armed Forces historical sources. We hope to have productive collaboration!

ANIMATION BASED ON A. TAPINAS NOVEL “HOUR OF THE WOLF”
SP “Studio Mitkus” bought copyright to animate "Hour of the Wolf" - an exciting new steam punk novel by Lithuanian writer Andrius Tapinas. In cooperation with author as a creative consultant we hope to create incredible animation based on this fantastic book. Pre-production is in progress.

ACADEMIC PUBLICATION ABOUT COMIC BOOKS IN LITHUANIA

TEXTBOOK “FUNDAMENTALS OF LAW” RELEASED
We are happy to announce about the release of the hardcover textbook “Fundamentals of Law” (in Lithuanian). Studio’s co-founder Vaida NEDZINSKAITĖ is the co-author of this brand new Vilnius Gediminas Technical University textbook of law.

Projects

LITHUANIAN HISTORICAL COMIC BOOK SERIES “LEICIAI“
SP “Studio Mitkus” in cooperation with Lithuanian Armed Forces is developing the historic comic book project. Lithuanian historical comic book series “Leiciai” is a 4 comic books (each 26 pages) of epic adventure genre story about the selected old Lithuanian soldiers and their missions in the end of XIII century.

At "Kaunas Hansa Days 2014” event exhibition with already created visualizations for the historical comic was organized. Later exhibition was relocated to Raudonė castle.

On July 2nd, 2015 Lithuanian Cultural Council decided to partially fund creation and publishing of Lithuanian historical comic book series “Leiciai”. Currently our team is intensively working on development of historical characters designs, completion of comic scripts and creation of comic sketches.

COMIC BOOK “HOUR OF THE WOLF: SILVER. ADVENTURES IN ARIZONA”
The result of collaboration between writer Andrius Tapinas and illustrator Tomas Mitkus - Lithuanian adventure comic book "Hour of the Wolf: Silver. Adventures in Arizona (64 pages).

Comic book tells the story of two Lithuanian adventurers who creates a plan how to get rich in the Wild West. Unfortunately, even the best plans sometimes misfire. Now, the heroes are haunted by angry mob and ruthless thugs. Moreover, creepy ancient secrets await at Skeleton Canyon.

A run of 3500 copies of comic book "Hour of the Wolf: Silver. Adventures in Arizona" was released in 2015. Comic book was officially launched at "Vilnius Book Fair 2015”.

SHORT ANIMATION "CITIES OF STEAM AND STONE"
“Cities of Steam and Stone” is a short (duration - 13 min.) steampunk style animation adapted from short excerpt of Andrius Tapinas novel "Hour of the Wolf.

The story starts at the beginning of the twentieth century at alternative history Vilnius, Cholera Cemetery, when Vilnius legate Antony Silver finds dead body with abnormal wounds. Antony thinks that this might be only the first of many murders so he begins his investigation.

On February 20th,2015 an exclusive premiere of short animation “Cities of Steam and Stone” (invited guests only) took place at the first Baltic Sea and the Nordic Region animation and video games festival "Beautiful Land of Nevermind (“BLON”) in Klaipeda.
